Charity golf day for New Hope

Monday, September 21st, 2015

Another Curo charity golf day, another great time had by all.

Last week we ran our annual golf day, again in aid of New Hope, Worcester which provides specialist care and facilities for children with disabilities and complex health care needs. The day was held at Bromsgrove Golf Centre and despite a slight shower, the teams battled on and recorded some impressively high scores.

Our ever cheerful and increasingly successful sponsored golf pro Ollie Farr was on hand to give hints and tips and we kept him busy with a ‘Beat the Pro’ competition too. Some of you may have seen Ollie compete this year in his first US Open.

Winning golfers bagged prizes including a fourball at Edgbaston, a round at Bromsgrove and a game with Ollie, making it a golf day with a difference. Thank you to all who came, played, bought raffle tickets and made the day the success it was.

We were delighted to hand over a cheque yesterday to Jean Wilson at New Hope Worcester, following our recent golf day held at Ombersley Golf Club.

Businesses from across Worcestershire and beyond supported the event, which comprised a popular 9-hole format followed by dinner and drinks. Those who came for a round included Halls Worcester, Thursfields solicitors, SB Print, SME solicitors, Smith & Williamson, Handelsbanken, HSBC, Prosperity Wealth, Harrisons and Blackstar Sports Management.

Additional funds were raised through a raffle which saw generous prize donations from St Andrew’s Town Hotel, Droitwich, Blackstar Sports Management and Sub Studio Photography amongst others. Ollie Farr, one of our sponsored golf professionals was on hand with short game tips before tee off and faced some fierce competition on the beat the pro event – congratulations to Paul Madden for not only beating the pro but achieving nearest the pin!

It was also great to hear of New Hope’s latest award as the charity was crowned winner in the category ‘Most Outstanding Special Educational Needs Provider’, a win which saw New Hope judged against a large and diverse range of worthy charities throughout the UK.

New Hope is also holding a ball at Worcester Sixways on 20th September – it would be great to see you there!.
