Announced back in March this year, the National Minimum Wage hourly rates are set to increase as follows with effect from 1 October 2015:
- Adult rate – up 20p to £6.70
- 18 – 20 year olds – up 17p to £5.30
- 16-17 year olds – up 8p to £3.87
- Apprentice rate up 57p to £3.30 per hour
It is estimated that more than 1.4 million of Britain’s lowest-paid workers are set to benefit from these increases.
